Southern Live Oak
Is renowned as a shade tree • Its nectar is used in honey production • Survives fires by resprouting quickly and protecting itself with a moist leaf cover • Sometimes lives for more than 900 years

A favorite Christmas tree • Cedar wax wings love its berries • Tribes used its smoke to purify areas for ceremonies • It isn't really a cedar! Colonists took it for a cedar, but it is actually a juniper
